The video, which went viral over the weekend, sparked a lot of discussions as several allegations were thrown in between Booth and another Hausa celebrity, Deezell.
Booth revealed that Deezell, who is now married, recorded the video while they were dating. Since then, he’s been using it to blackmail her, she said.
Deezell, however, denied the allegations, threatening to drag Booth to court over her allegations.
The Chairman of Kannywood group of Artists, AlHassan Kwale, has now spoken about the issue, during an interview with Daily trust.
He shared that contrary to the fears of many people, Booth will not be banned from the industry as it is understood that the video was not shared intentionally, but as a result of blackmail. He also said that the people involved in the situation, Booth and Deezell are currently under investigation.
He said: “Everyone knows that the video showing Maryam Booth was mischievously taken to blackmail her, not that she was doing a film or sort.
“She tried to take action about it immediately but the guy that did it acted as if he had deleted the video and for over three years he has been using that to extort money from her under threat that he will release the video until he eventually released it on Friday.
“Recently, he called and said he wants to take his mother to the hospital and that she should give him money but she refused; that was why he decided to release the nude video.”
