John Legend makes history with Sunday’s Emmy win

Singer John Legend has made history by becoming the first black man to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award.

John Legend took home an Emmy at Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmys for his role in NBC’s variety special ‘Jesus Christ Superstar.’

At 39, he also tied with Robert Lopez to become the youngest man to win all four major entertainment industry awards.

John Legend has won 10 Grammys in total, one Oscar for his original song for the Martin Luther King biopic ‘Selma,’ and one Tony which he won just last year.

He was also nominated for the lead actor category at the Primetime Emmys for his role as Jesus in the variety special.
