The Neo-Soul/Afro-pop singer, stage and screen actor says: “My first love was music. I wrote my first song when I was eight years old and all my siblings can still sing the song.
“I planned on sending it to Disney. Years later, I realized that reality can rob you of your ability to create and dream big so when you want to make magic you’ve gotta close your eyes and go back to that place where everything and anything is possible.
“There’s a lot of noise and a lotta opinions. Be you, never lose your voice! Even as an actor, it’s up to you to interpret that character. I know mediocrity is celebrated, surround yourself with directors that will bring out the best in you. Don’t settle for less.”
