What to do when strangers insult you on the internet…
Show them love and teach them some manners. Just like Nollywood actress and a philanthropist, Tonto Charity Dikeh. The actress took to Instagram to address those spewing hogwash/drivel/garbage/insults/codswallop/nonsense/insult on her social media page.
“ATTENTION:::” she began
“I get to See some awful comments and I am here to say I will never reply to any negative or Bad vibes…I have had my own fair share of Clapbacks, Saucey with rice replies in the past and Believe me I have grown Up so much I wouldn’t elude such SADNESS and classlessness again.”
“Please if you have nothing positive to say I advise you restrain from my page, PLEASE..”
“I mean you can insult me in your hearts and minds but not on my page and still put me through the stress of blocking and deleting…C’Mooon Thats brutal..”
“It’s said that you can’t give what you don’t have “I DONT HAVE HATE, Nor clapbacks or nasty reply So I can’t give you that… All I can how ever give you is LOVE..”
“Regardless I Love you all with the Love of God”
The story
It emerged that the actress’s marriage to estranged husband Olakunle Churchill has come to an end following the return of the bride price by Tonto’s family to the ex-husband’s family. The actress allegedly rejoiced over the event, an act which does not seem to sit well with some people, who took to trolling her on social media.
Verdict
Social media has greatly facilitated communication in a cost-effective and timely manner. With the advantages comes some cons, such as some people using it as means to spread hate and negativity, which is quite unfortunate. We love Tonto’s reply. Gentle rebuttal while showing clearly communicating that trolling is not acceptable. Classy!
