Actress Funke Akindele has apologised over the birthday party she held yesterday, 4th April 2020 in honour of her husband, JJC Skillz,
According to the actress, she is not trying to excuse her behaviour but feels she has to explain what actually happened.
“I will not intentionally mislead people,” a very remorseful and subdued Funke Akindele says in a video she shared on Instagram to explain what happened.
From her accounts, it appears that members of her company, Scene One, have been locked down at their Lagos studio. She says many of the people in the video, which circulated on social media had been on Scene One studio for “months, some weeks and some days” before the government announced the lockdown.
She said they had to stay back as there was no way they could have left Lagos because the borders were closed.
Funke also maintained that everyone at the party has been living on the estate and that no one came from outside including controversial singer Naira Marley. She says Naira Marley is working on a project with them, which was to be a surprise but she has to spill the beans now given the circumstance.
She explained Naira Marley asked to stay back on the estate where the studio is located as he says he liked it and she agreed.
Funke Akindele also states that she appreciates the love and concerns while reiterating that she will “continue to support the government in spreading awareness for the (Coronavirus) pandemic.”
