Everything you need to know about Pop Smoke’s murder as 5 people are arrested

The Los Angeles police have arrested five people in connection to the home invasion which took place at the rapper’s home in February.

According to a tweet shared on Thursday, 9 July, three adult males and two juvenile males were taken into custody in connection with the brutal murder.

Pop Smoke, whose real name is Bashar Jackson was killed aged 20 in a Hollywood Hills home that he was renting. He had put his address on social media by mistake.

According to the police, this mistake proved fatal as it led the five-man gang to Pop Smoke’s home where he was murdered. The police further said that they believe that the case was a home invasion gone wrong.

The alleged killers are believed to have stolen some items even though they refused to reveal what they stole.

In February, Pop Smoke took to his Instagram Facebook stories to share a number of extravagant purchases he had made including large amounts of money, designer goods, and a luxury car. The address of the home he was staying was visible on one of the packages.

“We believe that it was a robbery. Initially, we didn’t really have the evidence but then we discovered some other evidence that showed this was likely a home invasion gone bad,” Captain Jonathan Tippet of Los Angeles Police Department’s elite Robbery-Homicide Division told The Associated Press.

“It’s our belief that (the home-invasion robbery) was based on some of the social media posts,” Tippet said. “It’s based on the fact that he was posting his information may have contributed to him knowing where to find him.”

The three adults involved in the murder are being held on $1 million bond.
