The singer had a meeting with the Nigerian Police Spokesperson, Frank Mba in Abuja on Monday, 12 October.
During the meeting, Davido said he did not come for a closed-door meeting to which Mba responded, “How can you come here for a closed-door meeting when you were protesting?”
David immediately responded that he was not protesting. This could be heard in the live video which was streaming on Davido’s Instagram page.
This video is embarrassing. Davido don carry us handicap oo
Davido is denying that he was part of the #ENDSARS protest. He said he was in Abuja because of his fans and he came things down. But he didn't come to join the protest ?#SARSMUSTEND pic.twitter.com/jgPqBHBlbe— Big Based Chad (@BigBasedChad) October 12, 2020
Shortly after that, the live video ended and members of the public could no longer see what was happening.
In the later hours of the day, Davido shared a lengthy statement denying that he said he didn’t go out to protest.
He also said that his comment was taken out of context. What he meant, he said, was that he did not go there to cause any trouble and only went to support his fans.
