“It’s you that is protecting me.“
Those are the touching words Nigerian Superstar Davido said of his late mother, Dr Veronica Imade Adeleke, who passed away on 6th March 2003.
Sharing a photo of his mum, who was a lecturer at Babcock University, Davido writes in all caps:
“LOVE U MOMMY!! !!! I KNOW ITS YOU THAT IS PROTECTING ME!!!!! I KNOW!!!! I LOVE U!! UR SON GALLANT DIE!!!!!!!! RIP!!!”

This is not the first time the Blow My Mind singer is saying his late mother is watching over him.
Back in 2016 when Davido was signed on to Sony Music, the singer says, also in all caps:
1ST AFRICAN ARTIST TO SIGN A GLOBAL RECORD DEAL !! MY STORY IS JUST STARTING!! MY MOTHER IS SMILING IN HEAVEN RIGHT NOW!! @SonyMusicGlobal

Davido’s late mum, Dr Adeleke is said to have loved music just like her son. She is said to have been part of a band called David’s Band, back in the 90s. The band performed at her funeral.
