American model Chrissy Teigen, who took a month-long social media break because of online bullying, admits that she too trolled many people and is apologising now.
In a post on Medium, Teigen says that she has been ‘sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment’ for her past. “I’m truly ashamed of them,” the model said about her old tweets, which resurfaced recently.
The mother of 2 said that she was reaching out to people she offended privately and has publicly apologised to one person. This person is likely TV personality Courtney Stodden, who Teigen told to take her own life in 2011, according to BBC.
Stodden had been 16 at the time, while Chrissy Teigen was 25. Speaking about the incident, Stodden recounted to Variety: “People came out of the woodwork to beat up on a kid because she was in a situation that she shouldn’t have been in. There were a lot of celebrities acting like playground bullies.”

Ultimately, Stodden rejected Teigen’s apology as a public stunt to save face. But the 35-year-old understands.
“I understand that they may not want to speak to me. I don’t think I’d like to speak to me,” she says. “But if they do, I am here and I will listen to what they have to say, while [apologising] through sobs.”
Without mincing words, she admits to perpetuating the same behaviour before, which she now hates.
“When I first started using social media, I had so much fun with it. I made jokes, random observations. Think of all the engineers, working day and night to develop this amazing new platform and technology, connecting people all over the world to learn, create, and find kindred spirits. And I used it to snark at some celebrities.
“In reality, I was insecure, immature and in a world where I thought I needed to impress strangers to be accepted. If there was a pop culture pile-on, I took to Twitter to try to gain attention and show off what I at the time believed was a crude, clever, harmless quip. I thought it made me cool and relatable if I poked fun at celebrities,” Teigen wrote.
She ends her note asking not for forgiveness but, patience and tolerance as she works on making herself a better person and going to therapy.
