British singer Ed Sheeran, in an interview with iHeartRadio’s Charlamagne Tha God, has confirmed reports that he got married to his childhood sweetheart, Cherry Seaborn.
The confirmation effectively means the superstar has officially joined the growing list of secret celebrity marriages, which seems to be the new trend.
While discussing his No. 6 Collaborations Project in the interview, the singer explains the lyrics of his new song, Remember My Name, featuring Eminem and 50 Cent where he called Seaborn his “wife.”
“Watch how the lyrics in the songs might get twisted / My wife wears red but looks better without the lipstick,” the singer croons in the song.
Ed Sheeran also explains he had written the lyrics before he and Seaborn got married.
“It was actually before me and Cherry got married, and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out. Someone’s gonna hear that and be like, ‘Oh, they’re married!’ I didn’t know how that would be construed, but obviously it’s already come out,” he says.
Ed Sheeran announced his engagement to Seaborn in January.

The two have known each other since they were children, but they didn’t start dating until Sheeran invited her to Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July part in 2015, the singer told People Magazine.
