Businessman who allegedly spent over N2m on votes for Laycon calls him out on social media for not appreciating him

A Nigerian businessman, Engr. Prince Godwin Onyi, who allegedly spent over N2M on votes, recently took to social media to call out BBNaija’s 2020 winner, Laycon.

According to Onyi, the reality show star never reached out to him to show appreciation after he had spent about N2m in votes for him.

Onyi said that Laycon should learn from the reality show’s last year’s winner, Mercy Eke, by surrounding himself with businessmen and not people using him to shine.

Taking to his social media, he writes in part (lightly edited for clarity): “I want to clear up people’s calls and questions about if @itslaycon called or showed any appreciation for the help and financial support that I gave him, which I know that I spent more than 2 million naira on his votes..

“The truth is that no, he has not, and I don’t think he has time for businessmen (non-celebrity). And as a businessman, I feel I helped a young boy, I fought so tirelessly for him to win the BBNaija.

“Even when many kept asking me why I choose to support a Yoruba boy instead of Igbo, and my account was shadow-banned many times… Because of Laycon

The businessman continued that what surprised him was how Laycon reached out to his celebrity supporters even though they did not spend money to support him.

  9. Waste of money and I’m not saying this because of alleged Laycon’s lack of appreciation. That money could have been used for charity purpose or pay someone poor kids’ school fees, some poor people’s hospital bills, to mention just a few. Instead you dashed MultiChoice money hoping to recoup with affiliation to Laycon. Cry me a river.
