Bayern Munich opened their Bundesliga title defence account with an emphatic 8-0 rout of Schalke at the Allianz Arena to get over the loss of Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool.
Serge Gnabry, the chef, bagged a hat-trick while Leon Goretzka, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala also found the back of the net for the German and European champions, who didn’t seem like they took a break at all.

Gnabry was also the first man to get on the scoresheet on the night as he got Bayern Munich prepped for the annhilation with an excellent left-footed strike from 16 yards after being played in behind.
Leon Goretzka doubled the advantage within 20 minutes, stroking home beautifully from inside the box after being set up by Thomas Muller.
Schalke were inflicted more pains as Lewandowski scored from the spot having been brought down inside the box to net his first goal of the new campaign.

It kept raining goals in the second half with Gnabry scoring a second and a third before the hour mark to complete his hat trick.
Muller joined in on the party as he netted his first of the new season after he was set up by Sane. Then, Sane himself found the back of the net after being released clean through on goal.
Many believed Sane would possibly make Bayern Munich’s attack more potent and he proved the theory right on the season opener.
The former Manchester City winger was on sparkling form on his debut for his new club, scoring once and contributing two assists. Sane got in behind the Schalke defence countless times. It was as if he’d been unleashed after two frustrating seasons at the Etihad Stadium.
Youngster Musiala completed the rout on the night after he came off the bench to score his first Bundesliga goal late on. He is also the youngest ever player to score for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
