According to a police report filed in São Paulo, the woman alleges that the attack took place in a hotel in the French capital, where Neymar plays for Paris St-Germain (PSG).
According to police documents, the woman who has not been named got to know Neymar on Instagram and he suggested they meet in Paris. He provided her with an air ticket from Brazil to France and a reservation at the Hotel Sofitel Paris Arc Du Triomphe.
When Neymar came to the hotel on 15 May, he was “apparently drunk,” the woman alleges.
After conversation and embraces, “at some point, Neymar became aggressive, and through violence, engaged in sexual intercourse against the will of the victim,” the police document states.
The woman returned to Brazil two days later, without reporting the alleged incident to French police, because she was “emotionally shaken and afraid to register the facts in another country,” the document continues.
In a statement released after the accusations became public, Neymar’s management says: “We completely repudiate the unjust accusations and, above all, the exposure in the press of an extremely negative situation.”
The footballer’s father, Neymar dos Santos, tells Band TV in Brazil on Saturday that “it is clear that it was a trap. If public opinion is not cleared up, and if we can’t show the truth rapidly, this will snowball. If we have to show Neymar’s WhatsApps and the conversations with this girl, we will”.
In a video posted to his IG TV, Neymar shared what he says is an exchange of WhatsApp messages between him and the alleged victim.
Neymar Jr., in his response video, according to Goal.com, said that he and the woman began speaking in March and continued till 15 May, the day of the alleged incident. His messages claim that she invited him back to the hotel on 16 May before returning to Sao Paulo on 17 May and reported the incident on 31 May.
Speaking in Portuguese, the 27-year old says:
“I’m being charged of rape. It’s a heavy word, it’s a very strong thing, but it’s what’s happening right now.
“I was taken by surprise. It was very bad, very sad to hear that. You know my character, you know what I mean, you know I would never do something like that.
“But I’ve been exposed to it and I’m here to make a face of it because I know that any news with my name involves a lot of things, it makes a very loud noise, and everybody keeps wanting my statement, and what happened was totally the opposite of what they say.
“From now on I will expose everything, I will expose all the conversation I had with the girl, all our moments, which are intimate, but it is necessary to be open, it is necessary to expose to prove that nothing really happened at all.
“What happened that day was a relationship between a man and a woman, within four walls. Something happens with every couple, and the next day nothing happened.
“We kept chatting, she asked me for a souvenir for her son, and I was going to take it, and well… now I am surprised by these claims.
“It’s very bad, very sad. This not only hurts me, but like my whole family, because not only denigrating my image is bad, but what I am, who I am, the nature I have, the character I have.”
