The prize is opened for African authors living in Africa (at least primarily), and submission is opened from October 1 until October 31, 2017.
The manuscripts should be of unpublished works that is written in English or translated into English, the work should be distinctive, artistically singular, and of a high literary quality. The theme of the story is to clearly reflect the current happenings. The winner will be announced in 2018.
The prize will leave the winning writer with a sum of $12,000 and publication by Graywolf Press that will ensure the publicity of the book is maximized.
