Global Citizen Festival is a free and ticketless concert that rallies celebs, politicians and global leaders with the aim to end extreme poverty.
The festival has been held all over the world in cities like New York, London, Mumbai, Montreal and will now be hosted in South Africa.
Apart from Beyoncé and Jay-Z, other artists to perform include Ed Sheeran, Usher, Chris Martin, Pharrell Williams, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Femi Kuti, D’ banj and others.
Speaking about the festival, the CEO of Global Citizen said:
“We’re not interested in doing just a really big rock concert because there are enough really big rock concerts around the world.
“At the heart of what we do is the belief that if we can mobilize a movement of a hundred million global citizens who use their collective influence to encourage governments to adopt policies, that would alleviate poverty.”
Awesome!
