Naomi Osaka eased past Taiwanese professional tennis player Hsieh Su-Wei in about 66 minutes to seal a spot in the semi-finals of the Australian Open.
The Japanese third seed, who looks to make it her second Australian Open trophy, beat Hsieh Su-Wei 6-2 6-2.
Osaka will face former Grand Slam champions Serena Williams or Simona Halep in the next round for a place in Saturday’s final.
“Every time I play her, it is always such a battle,” Osaka said.
Osaka, despite her line up, has only dropped just one set en route to the last four.
She also saved two match points to beat two-time major winner Garbine Muguruza in the quarter-finals and looked as fresh as ever against Hseih.

She hit 24 winners, compared to 14 unforced errors, and amassed 12 breakpoints on the Hseih serve, converting four.

“I know my next opponent is Serena or Halep. I normally watch Serena’s matches anyway, but everyone’s told me about my draw here so I kind of had no choice but to know who my next opponent is,” Osaka said.
“But definitely it’s going to be a heap of fun.”
Osaka beat Williams to win her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2018, but she has won just one of her previous four matches against Halep.
