Following reports that the group are displeased with the way the NFF have handled visibility and publicity of the company during the Aiteo Cup tournament, the oil and gas outfit has seen it fit to do away with the story and confirm that the deal will go on and there was no consideration by the board to pull out of the agreement.
Mr. Benedict Peters who serves as the Executive Vice Chairman of the group had released a statement, read below:
“The deal is effective for five years and we have no plans to renege on our decision. We will continue to underwrite the costs of organizing the competition for the men and women’s finals … media, branding/activation as well as the prize money to winners.”
He also praised the President of the NFF Amaju Pinnick by adding:
“The NFF has recorded significant improvements in its management and execution of its national team objectives within the short term of our relationship … Aiteo’s relationship with the NFF is unfettered in any way and the organization will continue to ensure that NFF gets the required financial support …”
Amaju Pinnick himself also countered the stories that made headlines yesterday, read the story here, when he said:
“Aiteo Group has continued to express their delight at the visibility they are getting from the relationship with the NFF, top officials of Aiteo Group was with NFF in Uyo and Yaounde during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.”
He added that the story about an impending severance of ties was not true:
“The story was borne out of sheer mischief; the attempt was to rock … the biggest partnership in the history of Nigerian football …”
