Sprinter, long jumper and captain of the Nigeria delegation to the 2017 IAAF World Championships, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, has advanced to the semi-final stage of the competition, Okagbare-Ighoteguonor ran a time of 11.22 s during the Heat 3 stage of Round of the event.

This year marks the fourth time Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, is competing in the biennial event. She had previously won a long jump silver and a 200m bronze during her second appearance at the championships four years ago in Moscow, Russia. She is looking to to at least equal those feats this year.
