Damon Weaver died on 1 May 2021 of natural causes at the age of 23, 12 years after he became famous for interviewing President Barack Obama at 11 in the White House.
On 13 August 2009, Obama gave 10 minutes to the pre-teen Weaver inside one of the three White House oval rooms — the Diplomatic Reception Room. With most of the world watching, 11-year-old Damon Weaver fired heartfelt questions at the President.
His questions centred around school lunches, bullying, conflict resolution and success. They were really questions that 6 Graders would be interested in. The interview ended with him requesting that the President of the United States e his “homeboy”. To which Obama replied, “absolutely.” Below is a Sky News video coverage of the interview:
After the interview, Weaver went on to interview Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Wade during this period. He then went back to being a regular kid and trying to finish his education.

What is Damon Weaver cause of death? His family has not revealed any detail regarding this, but many sources say that it is of natural causes. His sister, Candace Hardy, reported the death two weeks after it happened. This respectfully allows the family time to grieve before it gets media coverage.
Weaver was studying communications at Albany State University in Georgia before he passed. The New York Times, Associated Press, The Hill and more have reported about his demise.
Social media users are already expressing sympathy and well wishes to his family and friends. Others are making sure that he is not just referred to as ‘the kid,’ but his real name ‘Damon Weaver’ is used in every instance.
