Wizkid is set to release the music video for “Essence” featuring Nigerian Alternative R&B and Afro beats superstar Tems on Friday, 9 April 2021.
The video will be the fourth off the singer’s much appreciated album “Made In Lagos” which was released on 30 October 2020 as his fourth studio album. Preceding the anticipated “Essence” video are the visuals of “Smile” (featuring H.E.R.), “No Stress”, and “Ginger” (featuring Burna Boy).
As many have come to expect, Wizkid’s next video will not fall short of expectations. Teasing the video’s release on Monday, 5 April 2021, the Grammy-award winning singer tweeted to his 8.4 million followers:

The announcement met with positive reactions from fans who have been waiting on the artist’s next release. With the #Essence hashtag topping Twitter throughout the day with thousands of views.
Among the three videos that Wizkid has since released from the “Made In Lagos” album, the most recent, “Ginger” featuring Burna Boy, is currently the most viewed on YouTube garnering 12.7 million views within four months. His earliest video, “Smile”, has managed only 5.9 million YouTube views and is trailing “No Stress” music video which dropped a month later and already has over 10 million views.
Considering YouTube views alone, “Essence” video is likely to do better than the three previous releases in the next couple of months. It is the most streamed out of the 14 tracks contained in the album.
Also recall that it made the popular Barack Obama list of 30 top songs of 2020, curated with the help of his daughter Sasha.
The latest teaser for the video comes today in form of a 1-sec clip of a shirtless Wizkid sporting his signature beret with a matching trouser.

“Made In Lagos” recently made the news after a copy-cat album titled “Lasgidi Made” was uncovered to have been sharing its streams. You can see more about this news here: How Wisekid raked N30m off Wizkid’s Apple Music streams
Despite the ruckus that this caused, the Starboy CEO has not even acknowledged the incident.
He started the year with his first-ever Grammy win and continued on a strong note by claiming his second consecutive NAACP Image Awards as well. With the year barely gone halfway, Wizkid and his fans are finely poised for a great year. For now, we anticipate the visuals of “Essence” and all the good things it will bring with it.
Looking forward to it
