American musical artist Taylor Swift has been named the biggest-selling artist for 2019 by the international federation of the phonographic industry [IFPI].
Taylor’s seventh album, Lover, which she released in August 2019 gave her the top spot. The album debuted at number 1 in over ten countries and it reached three million sales worldwide by the end of the first week of release. Wow!
This is indeed a hard work from the artist that eventually paid off.
Ed Shereen also earned the second position. He had also had his fair share of wearing the biggest selling artist crown. He won the biggest selling artist in 2017.
The chief executive of IFPI, Frances Moore called Taylor Swift “an epitome of a truly global star” as he handed her the award for the second time.
“She continues to grow as an artist and maintains an incredibly strong connection with her fanbase, whilst continuing to evolve her sound with each album. It is a pleasure to be able to present her with the Global Recording Artist of the Year Award for the second time,” he adds.
