The actress turned filmmaker was reacting to the selection of her directorial film debut, Lionheart, as Nigerian’s first-ever submission to the Academy Awards.
In a short statement released on Instagram, Genevieve Nnaji also expressed gratitude for the support and recognition, declaring she’s “proud to carry the torch.”

“The Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee has chosen @lionheartthemovie to represent Nigeria for the 2020 Academy Award for Best International Film! This is the first entry ever for Nigeria.
