The Lagos State Police Command have explained why they invaded and sealed off the venue of the birthday party of popular cross-dresser, Bobrisky on Saturday.
Sahara Reporters police spokesperson in Lagos, Bala Elkana, as saying:
“The operation is currently ongoing. It is true that we have sealed up the venue of the party based on some intelligence.
“Considering the pedigree of the celebrant, the event may likely cause a breach of public peace and it is expected that no immoral display should be allowed.
“To augment security at each of the venues, ACPOL Area ‘A’ Lion Building/SUPOL Victoria Island mobilise 50 men to provide security at Club DNA, No 76 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, opposite Eko Hotel and Suite, Victoria Island and Paradise Boat Club, plot 8, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island.”
Furthermore, separate reports by the Premium Times and the Punch also quote Elkana as having confirmed the report of the shut down. He says: “We sealed off the venue of Bobrisky’s birthday party today (Saturday) based on some credible information.”
Elkana did not elaborate but said that additional information would be provided to the public in due time.
It is also not known whether Bobrisky was arrested.
About 50 policemen stormed the venue of Bobrisky’s birthday party which was said to have been attended by some celebrities as well as cross-dressers and homosexuals.
Bobrisky, who clocked 28 on Saturday, had slated the celebration for two locations in Lagos with another one to hold Sunday.
The highly-publicised soiree had already kicked off at The Pearl Gardens in Lekki Phase 1 when the police stormed the premises and sealed it off.
It is alleged five people were arrested for breach of public peace and indecency.
Meanwhile, we cannot confirm reports that allege Bobrisky has apologised to fans and friends over the alleged disruption and arrests. At the time of writing, the cross-dresser’s last post was the birthday photoshoots he shared with fans yesterday’s morning.
