Simona Halep, who is the current and reigning Wimbledon champion, overcame fellow Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu to reach the final of the Prague Open.
Halep, a top seed in the event, needed a tie-break to take the first set before running out 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 winner in an hour and 31 minutes.
Halep will face Elise Mertens from Belgium in Sunday’s final.
Mertens herself needed almost two hours to overcome her opponent Kristyna Pliskova 7-5 7-6 (7-4).
Coco Gauff loses to Jennifer Brady at the Lexington Open
16-year-old American Coco Gauff, ranked 53 in the world missed out on a place in the final of the Top Seed Open in Kentucky after a straight-set defeat by fellow American tennis player Jennifer Brady.
Brady is currently ranked 49th in the world, four places higher than her 16-year-old rival, and used her big serve and power to good effect to win 6-2 6-4.
Teichmann ranked 63 in the world, beat Shelby Rogers 6-3 6-2 – who beat Serena Williams in the last round.
Brady who has not lost a set and only dropping 11 games in the tournament entered into Saturday’s semi-final against Coco Gauff in firm stance.
She broke Gauff twice early on and went on to open up a 4-1 advantage in the opening set, and although Gauff rallied back one of the breaks, Brady’s heavy-hitting kept her in control.
Brady easily broke again early in the second set, and although Gauff briefly threatened a comeback, Brady went on to reach her first final of 2020 having reached the last four in Dubai in February.
