Manchester United and Inter Milan both cruise into Europa last eight after wins

Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial helped Manchester United complete a comeback over Austrian side, LASK on Wednesday night at Old Trafford as they sealed their spot in the Europa League quarter-finals with a 7-1 victory on aggregate.

United had almost already secured qualification to the next round after an emphatic 5-0 win away in Austria, which was played nearly five months earlier before the coronavirus pandemic halted the season but United ensured the sealed a double over LASK.

They were under no pressure and were mostly lacklustre for long periods of the game allowing the visitors to take the lead thanks to Philipp Wiesinger’s stunning strike in the 55th minute.

However, United equalised 93 seconds later through Jesse Lingard before substitute Anthony Martial’s late strike sealed victory on the night.

United are now only three games from the Europa Cup as they continue in their bid to win the Europa League. On Monday they will face Copenhagen, who progressed past Istanbul Basaksehir, in a one-off game in the quarter-finals in Cologne.
