Chelsea, having completed deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner early on before the opening of the transfer window are close to signing defender Thiago Silva, who completed his spell at PSG on a one-year deal.
The 35-year old became a free agent following PSG’s Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich on Sunday night.
Silva joined Paris Saint Germain from AC Milan in 2012, after spending eight years in Paris could become Frank Lampard’s third signing of the summer.

The Londoners are keen to strengthen as they missed out on purchasing players due to their ban last summer. They could also complete deals for Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell and Bayer Leverkusen forward Kai Havertz before the start of the new season.
Thiago Silva won seven Ligue 1 titles during his time in France but leaves the club having failed to achieve the European success desired most in Paris.
Chelsea sealed a fourth-place finish and have qualified for next season’s Champions League but their defence has been porous in Lampard’s debut campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Silva would offer a wealth of experience, solidity at the back like he showed in the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich, and will aid the development of the highly-rated 18-year-old defender Xavier Mbuyamba, who signed for the blues after canceling his contract at Barcelona and dubbed the ‘next Virgil van Dijk’.
The summer transfer window will run for 10 weeks from the 27th of July to at 11 pm on 5 October.
A domestic-only window for trades between the Premier League and EFL then runs from 5 October to 5 pm Friday, 16 October.
