Following his goal yesterday at the quarter-final match between Nigeria and South Africa at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019), Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze, age 20, has been declared the youngest player to score in this edition of the tournament.
The feat was announced via a Twitter statement by CAF, which reads: “Samuel Chukwueze became the youngest scorer at the #TotalAFCON2019
“An eagle on the rise for @NGSuperEagles,” the statement adds.

Chukwueze was also deservedly named Man of the Match at the end of the game, and it’s obvious the young man certainly enjoyed a speculator outing last night.
Watch his post-match interview. We bet you can’t help but fall in love with “the eagle on the rise.”
