The 26-year-old beauty queen beat 89 other women at the pageant which was held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on 8 December.
Zozibini emerged winner after excelling at several tasks including evening gown and swimsuit outfits, answering social issues questions, and one final chance to explain why she was the right choice.
She was crowned by the 2018 Miss Universe, Catriona Gray.
The event was hosted by comedian Steve Harvey and Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo.
Miss Puerto Rico and MMiss Mexico were the first and second runner up respectively.
For their final question, the ladies answered the question: “What is the most important thing you should be teaching young girls today?”
To which Zozibini answered: “Leadership.”
“It’s something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time … because of what society has labelled women to be.
“I think we are the most powerful beings in the world, and that we should be given every opportunity, and that is what we should be teaching these young girls, to take up space.
“Nothing is as important as taking up space in the society and cementing yourself.”

On taking the crown, the new Miss Universe gave a speech that had everyone emotional.
She said: “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be beautiful. “I think it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.”
Olutosin Araromi, who represented Nigeria made it to the top twenty at the competition.
