Lizzo, who catapulted to fame this year with positive, empowering songs like Feel Good and Juice has enjoyed accolade after accolade this year.
“Attending a Lizzo concert feels like worshipping at the church of self-love, if your preacher was a pop star living joyfully in a big black body, delivering a sermon of self-acceptance that’s as frank as it is accessible,” author Samantha Irby wrote for Time.
Lizzo has had a fantastic year, from her breakout in March. While she has been signed to a record label since 2016, she became very well known through the Netflix movie, Someone Great.
Her now popular anthem, Truth Hurts was played in the film and went on to top the Billboard Hot 100. She then went on to perform at the AMA awards and carried a tiny purse that made her go viral.
Now, Lizzo is the most nominated artist for the 2020 Grammy awards, leading with eight nominations including best album, record and song of the year.
She was also nominated for many variations of the best new artists at several awards shows including best new artist, song and album at this year’s Teen Choice Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards and American Music Awards.
