It never ends! Ask Kevin Hart.
We mean that “error of judgment” as Kevin Hart, who is an actor and a comedian called it.
Some background
Back in 2017, Kevin, who is married to Eniko Hart (nee Parrish) was engaged in consensual sex acts with a 28-year-old model named Montia Sabagged. The act was recorded on video (ostensibly by Kevin’s former friend, Jonathan Jackson). The video was subsequently released online with Kevin saying someone was trying to extort him for money. Prosecutors would later charge his former friend for attempts at extortion.
To the present
Now, the model is suing Kevin and others for $60 million.
According to Montia, Kevin Hart, Jonathan “JT” Jackson, the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and other related companies inflicted intentional inflection of emotional distress, violations of privacy and negligence on her person. So, she wants $60 million as compensation, according to multiple US news outlets.
According to court documents, Montia alleges that Kevin worked in concert with Jonathan Jackson and gave him access to their hotel so that he could plant the video recording device. She claims Kevin did that because he would profit from the scandal through publicity for his Irresponsible Tour. Furthermore, the documents say Kevin wanted to “increase his overall pop culture status.”
We are not sure how that could be seeing that Kevin has a wife, Eniko, who was pregnant at the time. The video nearly ended the couple’s marriage but they were able to work things out.
Recollecting
Following the release of the sex tape back in 2017, Kevin apologised publicly to his wife, calling his amorous escapades an error of judgment.
“I’m at a place in my life where I feel like I have a target on my back and because of that, I should make smart decisions. And recently, I didn’t,” he had written in an Instagram post. “You know, I’m not perfect. I’m not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form.
“I made a bad error in judgment and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did. And in doing that, I know that I’m going to hurt the people closest to me, who’ve I talked to and apologized to, that would be my wife and my kids.”
Furthermore, in an interview with the Power 105.1 FM show The Breakfast Club in December 2017, Kevin says:
“I’m guilty [of infidelity], regardless of how it happened and what was involved, the s– that I can’t talk about, I’m guilty. I’m wrong. “It’s beyond irresponsible. There’s no way around it. That’s Kevin Hart in his dumbest moment. That’s not the finest hour of my life. With that being said, you make your bed you lay in it.”
Also in 2018, Kevin’s former friend, Jonathan Jackon was charged to court by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for attempted extortion and extortion by threatening letter. He was accused of attempts to sell the tape to various celebrity news websites after Kevin refused to pay Jackson an undisclosed amount of money he had requested. Jonathan pled not guilty to the charges in a case, which has not concluded.
Meanwhile, Kevin is checked into a rehab facility after he was involved in a car accident that badly hurt his back.
