Coronavirus: Actor, Idris Elba tests positive for Covid-19

British actor, Idris Elba is the latest public figure to reveal that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

He took to social media on Monday, 16 March to share a video saying he has tested positive for the virus without symptoms and is now in quarantine.

“It sucks,” the 47-year-old said in the video clip, with his wife, Sabrina Dhowre beside him. He also said that he got tested on Friday because he realized he’d come into contact with someone who also tested positive.

“Listen, I’m doing okay,” Elba said, before telling fans: “This is serious.”

“Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands,” he continued. “There are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it.

“Transparency is probably the best thing for this right now.”

This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic,” he wrote on Twitter.

This is coming days after Hollywood actor, Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson revealed that they had contracted Coronavirus while filming in Australia.

So far, 175 thousand cases of Coronavirus have been recorded worldwide with over seven thousand deaths reported.

People have been advised to not panic, wash their hands, and stay safe.
