Bollywood star, Sushant Singh Rajput dies of apparent suicide at 34

His death is thought to be an apparent suicide as he was found hanging from a rope in his home in Mumbai’s Bandra, the police said. 

Although the police confirmed that he died from suicide, no suicide note was found at his residence. 

“Sushant Singh Rajput has committed suicide, Mumbai Police is investigating,” DCP Pranay Ashok, spokesperson Mumbai Police said.

The police said that the actor had spoken to his sister in the morning before he died. After that, he took his medicine and then sequestered himself in his room. 

When his cook and his two friends who were staying at his house with him could not reach him, they called a keymaker who unlocked his bedroom door. The actor was then found dead in his room. 

Sushant’s team shared a message to his fans, writing: “It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work like they have done so far. We request media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief.”

This news is coming only days after Sushant’s former manager, Disha Salian died from suicide. He had tweeted his shock on social media. 

Sushant Singh Rajput made his movie debut in 2013’s Kai Po Che! and earned a nomination for best male debut at the FilmFare Awards.

He was best known for his award-winning performance in Zee TV soap opera Pavitra Rishta, as well as 2014’s Dil Bechara – a Hindi remake of Hollywood’s The Fault In Our Stars.
