Vanessa Bryant paid tribute to Kobe and Gianna at the Staples Center in Los Angeles’ Monday night, 24th February 2020 during the remembrance service in honour of her husband, Kobe, and daughter, Gianni, also known as Gigi.
The date 2-24 means a lot to the Bryant family as those were the jersey numbers worn by father and daughter.
At the memorial, Vanessa Bryant was welcomed to pay tributes to both her husband and child. She thanked the over 20,000 people for being present, saying it meant so much to them.
“First, I’d like to thank everyone for coming today. The outpouring of love that my family has gotten has been so encouraging. I’d like to talk about both Kobe and Gigi,” She says.
“My baby girl, Gianna Bryant is an amazingly sweet soul. She always kissed me goodnight and kissed me good morning,” reveals Vanessa.
The grieving mother also said that her daughter knew how much her kisses meant to her, and Gigi always made sure that she kissed her.
“She was daddy’s girl but she loved her Mama. She had Kobe’s ability to listen to music and memorise the lyrics in no time. Gigi was confident but not in an arrogant way,” Vanessa says.
Vanessa also stated that Gianna was just like her daddy and they were both great teachers. “Gigi was very sweet, she always made sure everyone was okay, She was our Shephard. She was so smart. Gigi was sunshine and she brightened my day.”

Vanessa also paid tribute to her late husband, Kobe Bryant. “Now for my soul mate, Kobe, was known as a fierce competitor on the basketball court, the greatest of all time, a writer, an Oscar winner and a Black Mamba. I couldn’t see him as just a celebrity. He was my sweet husband and an amazing father to my children. I have no idea how I had a man who loved me like Kobe. He was truly the romantic one in our relationship. We really had an amazing relationship.
“Kobe wanted us to renew our vows, he wanted Natalie to take over his company and wanted us to travel the world together. He was the MVP of girl dads. He always knew there was always room for improvements.”
It was indeed a touching moment at the memorial when Vanessa was speaking especially when she said, “God knew they couldn’t be on this earth without each other. He had to bring them home to heaven together. Babe, you take care of our Gigi.”
