The estate of the late writer John R.R. Tolkien has been reported to be in talks with the television company as well as the book company.
Although no deal has been reached regarding an agreement, it has been revealed that there is serious talk going on regarding the creation of a series that will be based on the fantasy novel.
The success of George R.R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones must have had much to do with the speedy talks but it gets more interesting when it is said that Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos was directly involved in the talks, which is rare thing on its own.
Amazon have been shifting its focus from naturalistic series to fantasy and science fiction which the CEO is said to be a fan of and recently they lost three top executives in the company, the ex-President, head of scripted and also head of unscripted. The discussion is still said to be in its first stages.
The legal issue between Warner Bros. and the estate that was recently settled in 2012 seem to be a thing of the past now as they are set to work something out to bring us a much anticipated book adaptation.
