According to reports from MTO, Ashanti was expected to perform at Stony Brook University’s Back To Brook event this month but had to cancel due to low sales.
A statement from the school reads: “As an organization, we do our best to host programs for students while providing diversity and inclusion. However, we have struggled to execute certain aspects. With a week before the concert, only 24 tickets are sold to students.”
The school further explained that they had originally booked Teyana Taylor but she pulled out last minute, leaving the organisers to opt for Ashanti as the new headliner. Well, Ashanti’s 3.8 million followers on Instagram and 1.92 million on Twitter may not so faithful after all.
Ashanti is currently working on a joint album with her Murder Inc. partner-in-crime Ja Rule.
