It took her to TIFF 2018 for the premiere of the movie, it helped her seal a deal with Netflix, which some people say made Lionheart the first Nollywood movie ever to be acquired by Netflix. We are still trying to confirm that information.
According to new developments, the actress is not close to being done. Genevieve just appeared on CNN in an interview with Richard Quest during which she discussed the movie (obviously!) and also talked about Nollywood in general. It’s Nollywood to the world!
According to the award-winning actress, she sees Nollywood gaining global acceptance in the nearest future and cites language as one of the barriers that the industry faces to global acceptance.
Side note: This makes me wonder if the actress had been rejected for a Hollywood movie role based on her Nigerian accent. Remember that time it was rumoured she appeared on Marvel’sAvenger’s cast list and then her name disappeared? This was after Funke Akindele’s name was removed from the cast list on IMDB. One wonders their accent was a cause.
