The Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed 10 new cases of COVID-19, popularly known as Coronavirus in Nigeria.
Recall that not long ago, four new cases were confirmed, which brought the total confirmed cases in Nigeria to 12.
Now that number has climbed to 22 as 10 more cases have been confirmed. Out of the 10 new cases, three cases were confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and the remaining 7 were in Lagos State.
According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), nine of the 10 cases have travel history outside Nigeria in the last week. The 10th case was in close contact with a confirmed case.
“#Nigeria has recorded 10 new cases of #COVID19 in Lagos and FCT, the minister of health tweets on his Twitter handle. “That is a total of 22 cases in #Nigeria: Lagos 16, FCT 3, Ekiti 1 & Ogun 2.”
An image shared by the minister also shows that two people “have been discharged.”
All the 10 new cases are Nigerians, “9 returning from Canada, France, Netherlands, Spain & UK, 1 close contact of a known case.
“In FCT, the cases are being treated at Uni. of Abuja Teaching Hosp., Gwagwalada. In Lagos, the cases are being treated at Infectious Disease Hosp., Lagos, ” the minister adds.

Lagos, which appears to be the epicentre of the COVID-19 in Nigeria, now has 17 cases, Abuja 3 and Ekiti 1. The index case, an Italian who came into the country on the 25th of February 2020 via a Turkish flight was discharged on Saturday after his tests turned negative.
Lagos State has also banned all gatherings of more than 50 people in a bid to stop the spread of the virus. All schools in the state have also been ordered to close.
