Just when we got some uplifting news yesterday evening that six patients who tested positive for the Coronavirus in Lagos have recovered, 14 new cases get discovered.
The shocking news of the new confirmed cases in Nigeria has caused a great increment in the number of confirmed cases in the country.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), two of the 14 were confirmed were in FCT and 12 in Lagos state.
The NCDC took to their Twitter handle to announce the news to Nigerians last night.
An earlier tweet by the NCDC had stated that two of the new cases were confirmed in the FCT and also that one of the cases had a contact with a confirmed case.
However, a follow-up tweet clarified the mistake. While 12 of the new cases were confirmed in Lagos, only one was confirmed in Abuja at the time and another one case in Bauchi State. Furthermore, two, not one of the cases were in close contact with someone who had the Covid-19 disease.
Read the corrected tweet:
“We noticed an error in our update at 8:35 pm. It should be: 14 new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 1 in FCT, 1 IN BAUCHI & 12 in Lagos Of the 14, 6 were detected on a vessel, 3 are returning travellers & 2 are close contacts of confirmed cases.”
