A Nipsey Hussey biography titled, The Marathon Don’t Stop: The Life and Times of Nipsey Hussle, is in the works, reports say.
The book is being written by music journalist Rob Kenner and is expected to be released on 24 March 2020, according to Complex. Kenner is the founding editor of VIBE. Atria Books will be publishing, with senior editor Michelle Herrera Mulligan editing.
Nipsey was murdered in March 2019 outside his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles. The Marathon Don’t Stop: The Life and Times of Nipsey Hussle is a book about his life and will feature ground reporting and interviews from family and associates. In addition, commentaries from Hussey will also be included.
Speaking of the motivation behind writing the book, Kenner tells Complex: “The last time I spoke with Nipsey Hussle, he told me, ‘I ain’t outside giving out jewellery or dropping off bags of money on people, but I’m giving out the game. This book is my attempt to help fulfil that intention.”
Kenner also explained that Hussey’s family did not authorise the autobiography and that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the late rapper’s estate. He called Hussey fascinating and one of the “most important cultural figures of our time” who legacy transcends not just music but also entrepreneurship and activism.
