The finals opened with an early Mario Mandzukic own goal but Ivan Perisic replied 10 minutes later with a bullet shot that emerged from a set piece to knot it up.
Unfortunately for Croatia, France were then awarded a penalty in the 38th minute from a VAR assisted handball call, the first ever in a World Cup final. Griezmann was then burdened with the task of putting the penalty away, which he seemingly did with ease.
Pogba added one more goal in the 59th minute via a shot from inside the box to make him the first ever manchester united player to score in a world cup final but France wasn’t willing to stop there with the record breaking
19-year-old Kyrian Mbappe joined in on the action with the final goal for France in the 65th minute to make him the first teenager to score in a World Cup final since Pele.
Mandzukic capitalised on a goal keeper error to pull one back for Croatia making him the second player in World Cup history to score a goal for his team and an own goal in a single game. Ernie Brandts for Netherlands against Italy in 1978 is the only other player to do so.
Was a great World Cup…Congrats to France for a superb victory!!
