Hollywood Reporter discloses Netflix will be increasing their salaries 12 times over due to the popularity of the show.
The news outlet reports that Gaten Matarazzo, 15, Caleb McLaughlin, 16, Noah Schnapp, 13, and Finn Wolfhard, 15, are all set to earn $250,000 per episode for the third season, which is due to start filming next month.
It’s also reported that Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, could be set for an even bigger pay rise after the 14-year-old actress separated from her co-stars during the renegotiations.
Some sources suggest she will be picking up as much her adult co-stars Winona Ryder and David Harbour – who are apparently going to be picking up $350,000 per episode.
Meanwhile, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery are earning $150,000) an episode.
The news outlet further reports that the salaries are made up of different tiers – with the adults being on the A Tier, the young actors on the B Tiers and the older teenage cast on the C Tier.
However, Millie’s salary is said to be a mystery – with some sources putting it on the A Tier and other sources saying she is on her own separate tier between A and B, making up to around $300,000 per episode.
Either way, it’s fair to say the young star won’t be asking for an increase in her pocket money anytime soon.
The casts have already been treated to a bonus of around $60,000 each after Netflix realised what a massive hit they had on their hands.
When asked by the Hollywood Reporter, Netflix declined to comment on the stars’ salaries.
Filming for the eagerly anticipated third season begins on 23 April, however, actor Harbour said that it’s unlikely to hit our screens this year.
Speaking to Variety, he says: “I mean, one of the things that’s annoying for fans is that it takes us a long time to do them.
“Like, you probably won’t get (Season 3) until sometime in 2019. But also part of the thing is, like any good thing, they need time. And those guys work so hard. I mean, they just sit in their apartment and write for 12, 14 hours a day.”
