Those invited will be able to watch the arrivals of the bride and groom and their guests at St. George’s Chapel, where the ceremony takes place, and to watch the newlyweds depart the castle on a carriage procession through the town of Windsor.
And that’s because the couple wants the public to feel part of the celebration, “a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters and values of the Bride and Groom.”
Of the 2,640 invitees, 1,200 will be members of the public from every corner of the United Kingdom. They “will be nominated to attend by nine regional Lord Lieutenant offices.” These will be made up of people from diverse background and ages, “including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities.”
Charity organisations are not left out. “200 people from a range of charities and organisations which Prince Harry and Ms Markle have a close association with” are invited.
Also on the list of invitees are 100 pupils from two local schools, The Royal School, Great Park, Windsor and St George’s School, Windsor Castle; 610 Windsor Castle community members, including residents of Windsor Castle and members of the St George’s Chapel community; and 530 Members of The Royal Households and Crown Estate.
Meanwhile, the Palace has not made public the list of guests invited to the wedding.
The news of the engagement between Miss Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was announced last November by Clarence House Twitter account. Prince Harry revealed that he designed Meghan’s engagement ring, a yellow gold band with a centre stone sourced from Botswana. It also features some diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection.
Prince Harry and Meghan were ostensibly introduced to each other by a mutual friend who thought they would get along famously. Well, the rest is bow history as the saying goes.
