George Saunders Wins Man Booker Prize 2017.

American short story writer, George Saunders has been awarded the prize for the 2017 Man Booker Awrd for his first novel Lincoln In Bardo. 

 

The novel is based on the real life event of the night that Abrahm Lincoln buried his son and the imagination that the son is somehow stuck in a limbo that the Buddhists refer to as Bardo.

 

While accepting the award he thanked his wife Paula calling her a precious friend and referred to the award as an wonderful honor.

 

The Chair of judges, Lola Young described his story as an extraordinary piece of work with unique qualities. The book won out of the 144 novels submitted for the prize that comes with a sum of 50,000 Pounds.
