Following his amazing start of the season both in the domestic front and the European platform for Paris Saint-Germain, the world record holder for the highest transfer in football history has been tipped by many to start a goal of winning the most prestigious football award: the Ballon d’Or.
But when he was asked by reporters, he quickly made it clear that it was not his obsession.
He said:
“Of course every footballer dreams of winning the award but for me, I am not obsessed with it. The team comes first before individual awards.”
It was claimed that Neymar had left Barcelona because he was looking to step out of the shadow of five time Ballon d’Or winner Messi but the Brazilian made no statement to affirm that or discredit it.
This year’s award will be held early next year and many are tipping Portuguese talisman Christiano Ronaldo to win it for his impressive display last season as he lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy and La Liga trophy with Real Madrid and also won the Euro Cup with Portugal.
Who will you vote for if you had the franchise?
