This year’s tournament is the 29th edition of the men’s tournament and the D’Tigers are hoping to replicate their success two years ago in Radès, Tunisia, where they emerged as the tournament champions. The Nigeria female basketball players, the D’Tigress last month also won the female version of the tournament held in Bamako Mali.

Twelve players are in the squad including Abdul Yahaya, Dike Azuoma, Diogu Ike, Deji Akindele, O’karo Akamune, Bryant Mbamalu, Ike Nwamu, Akin Akingbala, Ike Iroegbu, Anthony Odunsi, Kelechi Anunna and Daniel Ochefu. They are being coached by Coach Alex Nwora.
The D’Tigers who are drawn in Group A will start their campaign in the African championship with preliminary games against Cote d’Ivoire on Friday, 8th September. Others in the group are Mali and DR Congo.
