Super Eagles coach Gernor Rohr has expressed his satisfaction that the team was able to discover new talents despite the disappointment of not playing their scheduled friendly against Burkina Faso on Monday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Eagles were supposed to play two friendlies but ended up playing just one against Senegal last Thursday, which ended 1-1 at The Hive.
Unfortunately, the game against Burkina Faso was called off due to visa problems.
“We planned two international friendlies but could only play one. However, we were still able to do some work,” Rohr was quoted by the Super Eagles official Twitter handle on Tuesday morning.
“We’ve been able to see some new players and young Nigerian talents here in the U.K., that could be part of our group in future.”
Among the new players who were in camp with the Eagles were Chelsea’s Ola Aina, Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom, Isaac Success who plays for Watford, Olanrewaju Kayode of Austria Wien and the duo of Joel Bazee and Tyronne Ebuehi of Hannover 96 and ADO Den Haag respectively.
Rohr also revealed that he will return to Nigeria soon to scout for more players.
He added: “I’ll be back in Lagos next week to watch some NPFL (Nigeria Professional Football League) games and see some of our home stars in action as we continue to plan ahead.”
