A final year student of the Department of Chemistry, Chiamaka Ogamba, died this morning after she passed out and was rushed to the hospital.
The University had been a hub of activity after the official commencement of the campaign for the Student Union Government 17th republic’s positions this week and school activities saw an increase after almost a week and a half of Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme defense by mostly students in the Science faculty.
Today was a sad day for the faculty as a whole and especially Chemistry department after Chiamaka Ogamba lost her life when it all seemed to be finally set to get better. She had successfully defended the SIWES training she underwent for the past six months and was working on her Seminar presentation before tragedy struck.
Friends and classmates commented that she gave no sign of illness this morning had had just finished completing an assignment before she collapsed and was rushed to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri. Though some other close friends said she had just made passing remarks about not feeling ‘too well’ but remained her ever jovial self.
Chiamaka was alive when she was conveyed to the hospital by a Hilux van was later snatched by the cold hands of death and the wailing has still been uncontrollable since the news broke.
